NEW MATERIAL:Benzyl p-(p-acetoxybenzoyloxy)benzoate of the formula. USE:Insect pest repellent; it is used against cockroaches and mites. Further, it can be used as a synthetic intermediate of p-(p-hydroxybenzoyloxy)benzoic benzyl ester, which is used as an insect pest repellent, fungicide or color developer for thermally sensitive paper. PREPARATION:p-Acetoxybenzoyl chloride and benzyl p-hydroxybenzoate are heated in a solvent such as benzene or toluene in the presence of an amine to give the objective compound of the formula.
