PURPOSE:To judge whether a coil is mountable or not, by collating the inner- diameter hole of a coil carried into a prescribed position, between the mandrel of a payoff reel and an image sensor on the extension of the axial line of mandrel, by using the image sensor to detect the positional deviation of coil inner- hole and the existence of foreign matters. CONSTITUTION:The inner-diameter hole of a strip coil 8 mounted on the prescribed position between the mandrel 7 of a payoff reel and an image sensor 9 on the extension of the axial line of mandrel 7, is collated by the revolving image sensor 9 of a revolving mechanism 10. The positional deviation of the inner-diameter hole is detected by judging whether the collating area of the hole lies between the allowable outer and inner-diameter quantities of a video output, or not; the loose winding of coil or the existence of foreign matters is detected when even a part of the collating area comes off the allowable inner-diameter quantity.
