PURPOSE:L-Pantoate salt and/or L-pantolactone is treated with a microorganism and the pH of the resultant solution is adjusted to enable high-yield preparation of D-pantoate salt and/or D-pantolactone. CONSTITUTION:At least one microorganisms selected from Arthrobacter, Acinetobacter and Candida is aerobically cultured in a medium containing L-pantoate salt and/or L-pantolactone. Then, when needed, saccharides such as glucose or sucrose, alcohols, acids and other energy sources are added to the culture mixture, then, a microorganism in Mucor or Rhizopus is added to adjust the pH of the culture mixture to 2-6. |
