<p>A new and useful phonograph stylus-shielding apparatus and a stylus-unshielding apparatus are provided in combination with a phonograph and recorded-message carrier. The phonograph includes a housing having a top wall provided with an opening for receiving the recorded-message carrier. A turntable is rotatably mounted in the housing in alignment with the opening and a tonearm is pivoted to the turntable for rotation thereby. A reproducing stylus extends upwardly from the tonearm for engaging the recorded-message carrier when it is in position within the opening. The stylus-shielding apparatus automatically shields the stylus from access through the opening when the recorded-message carrier is removed from the opening and the stylus-unshielding apparatus automatically unshields the stylus when the recorded-message carrier is positioned within the opening.</p> |
