<p>Novel 4H-furo¢3,2-b!indoles which are useful for treating allergies are disclosed. Also disclosed are methods for preparing the indoles, pharmaceutical compositions containing the indoles and methods for using the pharmaceutical compositions in mammals for treating allergies. The indoles have the general formula: < IMG > (I) wherein R represents H, a halogen atom, -NO2, C1-6alkyl or C1-6alkoxy; R1 represents C1-6alkyl, phenyl or benzyl; R2 represents C1-6alkyl; and R3 represents -COOA, < IMG > and < IMG > , wherein A represents H or C1-6alkyl, or the cations Li, Na, K, Ca, triethylamine, tris(hydroxymethyl)aminomethane, piperidine, 1,2-ethane-diamine or L-(+)arginine.</p> |
