PURPOSE:To reduce the time for forming multi-color image by making independent the driving speed of an original scanning optical system which moves back and forth and the driving speed of an image carrying body and increasing the driving speed of the image carrying body in the stage of the backward movement of the original scanning optical system. CONSTITUTION:An original 0 is scanned by the forward and backward movement of an image reading part 4. The scanned light is made incident on a photosensitive drum 1 to form a latent image. A developing device group 13 is constituted of developing devices 131-134 for toners of various colors. The latent image on the drum 1 is then successively developed to the respective colors. Recording paper 14 is pinched by the gripper 201 of a transfer drum 20 and is brought into contact with the drum 1 by which each color image is transferred to the recording paper at every rotation. The image reading p[art 4 is driven by a motor 9 during this time and the forward movement thereof is made slow and the backward movement fast. The rotation of the drum 1 is controlled by a driving source 27 in accordance with such driving so as to be synchronized with the forward movement and backward movement of the part 4. The developing time for each color of the photosensitive drum is thereby reduced and therefore the reduction in the time for recording the multi-color images on the recording paper is made possible. |
