<p>PURPOSE:To compensate chromatic abberation, to improve the resolution and to improve the contrast by coloring a cooling liquid, which is sealed in the front of a cathode-ray tube, with one or more kinds of dye to prescribe transmittance characteristics and prescribing the product of transmittances. CONSTITUTION:A cooling liquid 5 is sealed between a front panel 11 of a cathode-ray tube body 1 and a front panel 3, and a cooling body 4 is provided. A lens 61 is adhered to the front of the panel 3 by an optical adhesive 7. With respect to the cooling medium 5, for example, yellow and blue dyes are used for a phosphor for green, and formulas (where TYS and TBS are spurious transmittances of yellow and blue dyes respectively and TY545 and TB545 are transmittances of yellow and blue dyes for 545nm wavelength respectively) are satisfied. Though a luminous flux L0 from a phosphor 2 is radiated ahead, a part of it is reflected on the exit of the lens 61 and is returned to the phosphor 21 to brighten the dark part of the phosphor. The similar processing is possible for phosphorus for red and blue. Thus, chromatic aberration is compensated to improve the resolution, and the contrast is improved also.</p> |
