PURPOSE:To prevent troubles due to solidification of a developer by extending the interval between a developing roll provided near the surface of a latent image carrier and a developer scraping member, which uniforms the developer on the developing roll, when development is stopped. CONSTITUTION:A device is so controlled that a gap G is kept between a latent image carrier 1 and developing rolls 2 and 3 as well as a developer scraping member 4 of a developing unit 9, and they are rotated in directions of arrows to perform development. A form roll 5 scrapes the developer from peripheral surfaces of rolls 2 and 3 to uniformalize the quantity of the developer on rolls 2 and 3 and cleans rolls 2 and 3. When development is stopped and a stopper plate 15 is turned counterclockwise by a solenoid omitted in the figure, the developing unit 9 is moved counterclockwise around a shaft 13 by its own weight, and rolls 2-4 are moved left with respect to the unit 9, but gaps between rolls 1-5 are extended, and a scraper 6 is separated from the roll 4. Thus, adhesion between rolls due to solidification of the developer is prevented to prevent the damage of rolls. |
