摘要 <p>PURPOSE:To enable to couple the optical fiber and the optical element optically and electrically at the same time by a method wherein a metallizing is performed on part of the outer peripheral surface of the optical fiber and an electrical connection of the optical fiber and the optical element electrode can be also performed at the same time. CONSTITUTION:A metallizing has been performed on part of the outer peripheral surface of an optical fiber 1, where ranges from the tip part to be coupled with an optical element chip 4 to a part 2 to be performed a hermetic sealing to a cap 3, and the part is functioned as a connecting lead. Firstly, the chip 4 is fusion-welded on a stem 5 using an alloy, such as an alloy of Au and Ge, and the tip part of the metallized part of the fiber 1 is fusion-welded on a metal electrode 11 provided on the surface of the chip 4 using an alloy, such as an alloy of Au and Sn. At this time, the tip part of the fiber 1 is made to shift to the center of a light-receiving surface 9 by the surface tension of the melted alloy 10 of Au and Sn. A cap 3 is made to cover, and a fiber insertion part 2 and sealing parts 6 between the cap 3 and the stem 5 are respectively fusion-welded. As a result, one side of external leads 7 is connected to an electrode on the back surface of this element and the other side of the external leads 7 is connected to the electrode 11 by way of the cap 3 and a metallized layer 8 formed on the outer peripheral surface of the fiber 1.</p>
