PURPOSE:To increase uniformity of cell reaction by passing a unit cell material between rollers having shorter width, then rollers having longer width in order when a unit cell is formed by placing a matrix containing phosphoric acid between a set of carbon fiber plates and bonding them together. CONSTITUTION:A matrix 1b mainly comprising silicon carbonate containing phosphric acid as electrolyte is placed between a set of carbon fiber plates 1a whose one surface is covered with catalyst layer, and they are pressed to form a unit cell of fuel cell. When the unit cell is formed, the unit cell material 1 is passed between rollers 3a having shorter width, then rollers 3b and 3c having longer width in order and pressed to form one body. By this process, since the matrix 1b and phosphoric acid are uniformly distributed between the carbon fiber plates, reaction and temperature distribution are unified and steady performance is kept for a long time. |
