PURPOSE:To prevent the hindrance of a coating means generated when hot air from a drying means is flowed to said coating means, by providing a cooling air curtain forming means between a means for applying varnish to a printing surface and a means for drying said varnish. CONSTITUTION:For example, in an apparatus wherein varnish is applied to the printed surface of printing paper, which is printed in the printing part 2 of a sheet-fed offset printing press 1 and sent to an impression cylinder 8 through feed drums 6, 7, by a blanket 9 and, thereafter, hot air is blown to the varnish from the hot air supply pipe 15 of a varnish drying part 4 to dry said varnish, a cooling air blowing means 5 is provided to the upstream side of the varnish drying part 4 to blow cooling air to the printing press. As the cooling air blowing means, a cooling air supply pipe 16 is employed and an air curtain is formed by cooling air blown off from said pipe 16. |
