PREPARATION:The 2-substituted-1,4-dihalogeno-2-butene of formula II {e.g. 1,4- dichloro-2-[trimethoxy]silyl-2-butene} is dehalogenated preferably with zinc powder in the presence of a non-alcoholic solvent such as THF.
