PURPOSE:To prevent any separation of a hydrogen-absorbing alloy so as to enable the life of a hydrogen-absorbing alloy electrode for a hydrogen battery to be increased by making the electrode by packing a hydrogen-absorbing alloy powder into a case consisting of a metallic sintered body having minute holes. CONSTITUTION:In making a hydrogen-absorbing alloy electrode for a hydrogen battery, firstly a case 1 is formed by welding together two pieces of sintered plates 3 made of Ni or similar material and having minute holes with diameter of at most about 5mum. After that, a hydrogen-absorbing alloy powder such as LaNi5 is densely packed inside the storage section 2 of the case 1 and then the packing hole is sealed by welding. Because of the above structure, the hydrogen- absorbing alloy powder sufficiently touches the case 1 used as a current collector and can sufficiently touches electrolyte through the minute holes. Therefore it is possible to produce a current high enough for the use of the battery. Additionally, there is no possibility that the hydrogen-absorbing alloy is separated during the repetition of charge and discharge, thereby increasing the life of the electrode. |
