PURPOSE:To provide a friction material for an annular brake which endures prolonged use without wear, esp. irregular wear and distortion, prepd. by forming a filler-contg. super-heat-resistant thermoplastic resin and making two or more grooves on the surface. CONSTITUTION:5-30wt% filler (e.g. particulate resin or graphite) is mixed into a super-heat-resistant thermoplastic resin (e.g. polyether sulfone, polyether ether ketone or polyamide imide resins). The resultant resin compsn. is formed into arc-shaped brake material 10 which fits a brake drum 7 and has grooves 11a, 11b etc. (about 1-4mm. wide and about 0.2-1.5mm. deep) at appropriate intervals on the top surface and projections 12a, 12b on the back surface which fit mounting holes 13a and so on of a spring 13. |
