PURPOSE:To prevent shifting or tipping of blocks by providing a support plate under a thin plate 30 set on the upper surface of a pallet so that the support plate is abutted against the side walls of the blocks when the thin plate is drawn back to transfer the group of blocks onto the pallet of the lifter. CONSTITUTION:When a predetermined number of blocks 10 of flat-bar steel are fed on a table, the group of blocks 10 are pushed onto a thin plate 30 by pushing means. This operation is repeated until a predetermined number of blocks 10 in length and width are placed on the thin plate 30. Then, a support plate 50 is advanced until it comes in abutment against the blocks 10, and thereafter, the thin plate 30 is drawn backwardly to transfer the group of blocks 10 onto a pallet 66. Then, a lifter 36 is lowered and when the upper surface of the blocks 10 is lowered to a predetermined level, this is detected by a sensor 41 and the lifter 36 is stopped. Thereafter, the thin plate 30 is again advanced to be set above the blocks 10 and the support plate 56 is advanced until it comes in abutment against the side walls of the blocks 10. Then, after the lifter 36 is raised until the thin plate 30 comes in the level to abut against the upper surface of the blocks 10, another group of blockes 10 are placed again on the thin plate 30. |
