SEALING DEVICE BETWEEN CONVERTER PORT AND SKIRT OF CONVERTER WASTE GAS TREATING DEVICE

PURPOSE:To seal thoroughly the port and skirt of a converter by providing double the 1st and 2nd sealing rings in the lower part of the skirt, bringing the same into press contact with the converter port by a cylinder and interposing a flexible sealing member between both sealing rings. CONSTITUTION:The 1st hollow sealing ring 17 made of a heat resisting cast iron is provided at the lower part of a skirt 2 and cooling water is passed in a hollow part 17'. The 2nd annular sealing ring 18 made of a stainless steel pipe is provided on the outside of the ring 17 and a flexible sealing member 19 is interposed between both rings 17 and 18. The ring 17 is brought into press contact with a converter port 12 by the pressing force of a cylinder 25 for the skirt and the slag sticking to the port 12 is broken by the pressing force generated in this stage and the thermal impact resulting from quick cooling by the cooling water, by which the port 12 and the 1st sealing ring are maintained in approximately the hermetic state in the stage of hermetic sealing. The ring 18 is lowered by a cylinder 21 so as to make press contact with the port 12 and the ring 18 is deformed according to the port 12 or the manufacturing error, by which both rings are brought into tight contact with each other.
