PURPOSE:To remove relatively deep surface defects from a roughed-down copper wire, by passing the wire through at least two drawing dies before a peeling- off step to carry out a wire-drawing having a large area reducing rate, and then by peeling off the wire. CONSTITUTION:A roughed-down wire 1 is led through a guide wheel 19 to a first drawing die 16 where the wire 1 is drawn, and is wound up onto a triple deck 15 from which the wire 1 is taken out to be subjected to a second wire- drawing by a second drawing die 17. The wire 1 is then wound up onto the intermediate stage of the triple deck 15. Further, the wire 1 is taken out from the intermediate stage of the deck 15, and is fed through a turn wheel 21 to a peeling-off die 18 where the wire 1 is peeled off. The wire 1 is finally wound up on the top stage of the triple deck 13. With a peeling-off margine of 0.1mm. substantially all surface-defects may be removed from the wire 1.
