PURPOSE:To prevent an IC card from illegal use by using the IC card as an effective one only when the date using the IC card is included in the available period stored in a storage area of the IC card. CONSTITUTION:Receiving power supply from a card holder 6, the IC card 1 waits (n1) data input and then compares (n3) a card holder cipher which is the initial data input with data stored in a memory area MA of the IC card. When the ciphers coincide with each other, the IC card 1 sends (n4) acknowledgement to the card holder 6. Receiving the acknowledgement from the IC card 1, the card holder 6 sends the available period to the IC card 1 and the IC card 1 sets up the date in a memory area MB. In case of discharging money from an ATM by using the IC card, whether the date of the transaction is included within the available period set up in the area MB or not is checked because the contents of the transaction are in a money discharging mode. If the date exceeds the available period, the transaction ends, but if the date is included within the period, the transaction processing is executed. |
