This device relates to a helical scan-type VTR, which has a capstan, fixed recording head and guide post perpendicular to an inclined plane. A cassette is mounted in parallel with a base plate. An optimal tape path for stable tape running and protection is provided by three inclined planes having different inclination directions and angle w.r.t. the plane of the base plate. A guide drum is arranged perpendicularly to the first inclined plane. A first guide post and an eraser head are arranged perpendicularly to the third inclined plane. The capstan, fixed recording head and a second guide post are arranged perpendicularly to the second inclined plane.
