<p>PURPOSE:To implement a compact configuration in actual use, by storing the names of places and their geographical coordinates beforehand, marking and displaying the departing point and the destination from the coordinates of the departing point and the destination at a suitable scale when they are specified, and also display in the present position of a vehicle. CONSTITUTION:The running distance of a vehicle is detected by a running distance detecting means 1, and the advancing azimuth is detected by an advancing azimuth detecting means 2. The present position is computed by a present position computing means 3. Initial setting is performed by a present-position initial-setting means 4. A plurality of the names of places and their geographical coordinates are stored in a geographical information memory means 6. The names of the departing point and the destination of the vehicle are designated by a place- name designating means 7. Based on the command from the means 7, the applicable place name and its coordinates are read by a geographical information retrieving means 8. An instruction is given by a coordinate conversion instructing means 9 so that the coordinates of each point are converted. A display control means 10 determines the scale, so that the marks indicating the departing point and the destination are displayed on the outer area of a rectangular region, which is imaginarily set on a screen. Based on this scale, the mark indicating the present position of the vehicle is displayed on the screen, and the specified coordinate conversion is performed.</p> |
