PURPOSE:To reduce the number of lenses and to constitute an optical fiber gyro by making a laser light incident on an optional pair of adjacent lenses out of geodesic lenses placed near individual vertexes of a polygon. CONSTITUTION:Three geodesic lenses 5 arranged to a triangle and three SAW electrodes 9 for optical frequency modulation, are provided on a plane waveguide 3 on a piezoelectric material base 1, and three laser light entrances 6 and three laser light exits 12 are provided around the base 1, and one SAW absorbing material 13 is provided in the center of the waveguide 3. Laser beams of three optical fibers 2 are made incident on the waveguide 3 from three entrances 6 and are collimated by lenses 5 and are subjected to diffraction modulation by the SAW generated from electrodes 9 and are condensed by another lenses 5 and are led to fiber 11 from exits 12. Thus, an external optical multiplexing/demultiplexing device and the optical fiber loop are coupled to each other to constitute the optical fiber gyro where the number of geodesic lenses is reduced. |
