Device for axially positioning a part 8 in a fixed casing especially a gearbox of a motor vehicle, the said part 8 being able to be for example an oscillating lever and being carried by a threaded shaft 4 screwed, on the one hand, into a tapped bore 3 of the casing and, on the other hand, into a tapped bore 7 of the part 8, this shaft 4 being provided with a shoulder 9 for stopping in abutment against an external face 10 of the casing when it is screwed right in, characterised in that the tapped bore 7 has a diameter less than that of the tapped bore 3, and the shaft 4 comprises two distinct threaded portions 5, 6 capable of interacting with the two tapped bores 3, 7 and which have threadings of different pitch, so that when the part 8 locked in rotation is mounted, the screwing of the shaft 4 simultaneously into the two bores 3, 7 gives rise to a predetermined axial movement of the part 8 with respect to the casing. Thus, a part 8 which is inaccessible or not very accessible may be positioned with precision on the shaft 4. <IMAGE>
