PURPOSE:To obtain a recording material suitable for use utilizing a color forming reaction of an electron-donative colorless dye precursor and a color developer, by using a malonamide derivative of a specified general formula as a color developer for a recording material. CONSTITUTION:A malonamide derivative of the formula, wherein each of R1 and R2 is hydrogen, alkyl, aralkyl or halogen, and each of R3 and R4 is hydrogen, alkyl, aralkyl, aryl or heterocyclic ring, is used as a color developer for a recording material. For example, 1mol of a dialkyl ester of a malonic acid derivative is brought into reaction with 2mol of a compound having an amino group under heating to synthesize a malonamide. Then, the malonamide is brought into reaction with surfuryl chloride, whereby the hydrogen atoms bonded to the center carbon atom of the malonamide are replaced by chlorine atoms, and an alpha,alpha- dichloromalonamide derivative is synthesized. |
