The housing has a circuit board which is oermanently connected to a connector section and which carries contact rails for the rotary clip contacrs of a selector switch. An instrument (4) can be inserted into a frame from the side so that its mechanism housing (16) rests on supports protruding from the frame. A selector switch knob (37) fits into an aperture in a cross-piece (8) to be axially fixed. A display plate (3) and the circuit board (2) are inserted from opposite sides of the frame (1). The circuit board is held by spring clips (14) on an intermediate support (13) which engage its connector (29). A lower housing section (5) engages the frame (1) via spring hooks (46).
