The indoor process produces green fodder for farm livestock using a greenhouse to accommodate thermo-insulated slabs constituting the seed beds, and ancillary equipment in the sowing irrigating and cutting functions. The house is timber framed with layered plastics wall cladding, with opaque roofing and diffused lateral lighting, and provides a highly stable ventilated thermal environment. The slabs use corrugated layered plastics sheets (1) to form seed beds mounted on foam bases (3), being fitted with electrical heating elements (4,5) by which light mould-promoting thermal shocks are applied to the plants. The equipment includes a travelling seed-spreading hopper (H), the irrigation equipment caters for flow modulation, and the cutter adjusts to suit the length of cuttings required. |
