In the prodn. of large decorative boards with a surface resembling ceramic, a supporting plate with a smooth surface is coated with a layer of clear synthetic resin varnish, then, whilst the varnish is still wet, a thick coating of clear synthetic resin varnish is applied in drops and, whilst still wet, sprayed with dispersion lacquer. Pref. the supporting plate is a plastics-coated hard fibre board.
