PURPOSE:To provide an ink jet printer capable of satisfactory response with almost no trouble by arranging electrodes in an opposed position to each other in a nozzle and applying electricity between these opposed electrodes to heat ink into bubbles. CONSTITUTION:If a switch 4 is closed, a certain voltage is applied between both electrodes 11, 12 from a power supply 3 and the ink 2 positioned between both electrodes 11, 12 is energized. As a result, the Joule heat is generated to heat the ink 2 into bubbles. If a considerable time elapsed after the opening of the switch 4, the bubbles 6 are completely gone, resulting in a further drop of the ink 2 pressure in a nozzle 1 and the subsequent replenishment of ink 2 into the nozzle 1 through capillarity. The ink 2 replenishment continues until the surfacial tension of ink 2 and an external pressure are in equilibrium at the nozzle head. In the meantime, ink droplets become almost perfectly spherical and fly toward a printing paper or any other similar material. |
