PRODUCTION OF SHAPE MATERIAL

PURPOSE:To make a titled method adaptable to diversification of product specifications by extruding preliminarily a heat-treted Al alloy shape material having a basic shape and bending the material to the shape of a required shape material according to design specifications then subjecting the material to heat treatment. CONSTITUTION:An extruded shape material 15 is preliminarily formed extrusion to a commonly usable basic shape having some angle theta in consideration for the change in the angle and is stored without subjecting the material to any heat treatment. If the prescribed angle is determined at alpha in a design specification, the material is bent to the angle alpha as shown by the virtural line at the point of the time when said angle is determined and thereafter the material is subjected to heat treatment to increase strength. The bending part is preferably formed into the thin-walled part to permit easier bending and to assure exactness in the bending position. The above-mentioned method adapts itself to diversification of product specifications and there is no need for set-up of extrusion tooling for each specification or specifying bridge members, etc. even if the specifications of the shape materials vary slightly.
