In a multi-spindle press, especially for sugar beet comminution, press spindles (2) can be driven in a synchronously rotating manner, with one helical turn (9) of each press spindle (2) engaging into the helical turn (9) of at least two adjacent press spindles (2), forming an engagement region (74). The press spindles (2) are surrounded by a common press casing (1) and have vertical longitudinal axes (3). The press spindles (2) enclose a guiding body (26) with external perforated guiding sheets (59) which in each case bound a gravity channel (61) for pressurised water. Perforated guiding plates (62) which each bound a gravity channel (64) for pressurised water are also provided on the inside of the press casing (1). <IMAGE>
