An irradiation lamp (5) for a hand apparatus for photopolymerisation in the field of dentistry is intended to be connected to an AC voltage source (1), the r.m.s. value of the lamp voltage being determined with the aid of a second lamp (7) which is connected in parallel with the irradiation lamp and of a photodetector (10), which is illuminated by said second lamp (7), as a control variable; in the event of a deviation from the predetermined desired value, the lamp voltage is readjusted by means of an electronic switch (2), via a regulator (13) which is connected to the photodetector (10). During the switching-on process, the adjustment signal emitted by the regulator (13) is suppressed by means of a time switching element (16). <IMAGE>
