The special feature of this shut-off flap for pipe conduits, in particular those consisting of large pipes, consists in the fact that measures are taken to ensure additional securing of the flap disc in the closed position, preventing unintentional opening of the flap disc if the flap shaft breaks or the retaining force provided by the actuating mechanism disappears with operating pressure employed on one side. For this purpose, fixed and moving stops (8, 9 and 8a, 9a respectively) are arranged in the flap housing (1) and, when the flap disc (3) assumes the closed position, these are axially adjacent, with a slight clearance, to the edge of the flap disc (3) or can be moved into such a position, and, in relation to the two disc portions on both sides of the pivot of the flap shaft (5), at least two fixed stops (8 and 8a respectively) are arranged on the sides of the portions which face the housing seat (7) during the closing movement of the flap disc (3) and at least one moveable stop (9 and 9a respectively) is arranged on the sides of the portions remote therefrom. Preferably, three stops (8, 9 and 8a, 9a respectively) distributed to give a three-point support are provided on each side of the flap disc (3).
