Evaporation cooling device for internal combustion engines with a cooling jacket

A form of evaporation cooling for an internal combustion engine is proposed in which liquid coolant is sprayed by means of spray nozzles or other means on to hot ions, especially on to the walls of combustion chamber zones, the quantity of coolant sprayed on being controllable as a function of the engine temperature or suitable operating parameters.
