PURPOSE:A resin composition that is obtained by adding a diene polymer which has been partially hydrogenated and contains polymerizable unsaturated groups and a photopolymerization initiator, thus being suitable for producing coated optical fibers with increased reliability, because of its high thermal stability. CONSTITUTION:A diene polymer containing averagely 1 or more polymerizable unsaturated groups, usually 1.5-3, of which a part, especially 1,2-bonds are hydrogenated, e.g., bearing acryloyl, methacryloyl or allyl, preferably acryloyl groups, is combined with a photopolymerization initiator and, when necessary, a reactive diluent, preferably acrylate. As the elastic composition, 1,2-butadiene polymer is used for high elasticity, while 1,4-butadiene polymer for low elasticity. The latter is preferred for coating optical fibers, because it can increase heat resistance without any adverse effect on low elasticity.
