PURPOSE:To impart excellent glare-shielding property to a transparent molded article, without lowering the transmittance of visible light, by forming a thin organic polymer film having minute surface irregularily to the surface of the article by vapor-phase coating process. CONSTITUTION:A transparent molded article such as inorganic glass, synthetic resin film, etc. is placed in a vacuum chamber. A matrix such as polyvinylidene fluoride powder, etc. is heated and evaporated in the vacuum chamber. A thin organic polymer film having a thickness of submicron order and having minute surface irregularity is formed on the surface of the article by this vapor-phase coating process, to obtain the objective glare-shielding transparent molded article. The vapor-phase coating is e.g. a chamical vapor-phase deposition process comprising the introduction of a monomer vapor such as methyl methacrylate monomer together with an inert gas into the vacuum chamber followed by the plasma polymerization of the monomer, as well as the physical vapor-phase deposition such as vacuum evaporation, ion plating, sputtering, etc.
