Process and reactor for the biological denitrification of polluted water, in which the microorganisms in a tank are provided with solid bodies for sessile colonisation, a substrate acting as a hydrogen donor for heterotrophic microorganisms being used as solid body, for example phthalates, polyhydroxybutyrate, epoxidised soya bean oil, protein compounds, starch compounds or cellulose compounds or vegetable wastes and being activated by the microbial activity.
