NEW MATERIAL:The di(meth)acrylic acid ester of formula I (m and n are 0-5 on an average; average of m+n is 1-10; R is H or CH3). USE:Useful as a reactive diluent which copolymerizes easily with a resin containing unsaturated group in the presence of heat, ultraviolet radiation, ionizing radiation, or radical initiator. It has especially low irritation, relatively low viscosity, and high rate of cure. The composition prepared from the di(meth)acrylic acid ester can be applied to the substrate made of wood, metal, glass, textile, paper, fiber, plastics, etc. having arbitrary form such as sheet, coil, molded article, film, panel, tube, etc. PREPARATION:The compound of formula I can be prepared by reacting the compound of formula II with addition condensation product of epsilon-caprolactone and acrylic acid or methacrylic acid while raising the temperature of the reaction system.
