<p>The process makes use of a rotary hearth kiln, said kiln comprising the following adaptations: - the displacement of the hearth takes place at a controlled speed, - the device for feeding the hearth with active carbon is sealed, - the heating of the kiln is carried out with the aid of devices which do not generate gas, - the means for bringing about tightness between the external casing of the kiln and the hearth are advantageously coupled with the means necessary for bringing about a steeping of the treated carbon, - the system for evacuation of the gases generated during treatment in the kiln is situated, in the kiln, in the region of the means making possible the discharge of the active carbon, said system for evacuation ensuring a concurrent circulation of the gases in relation to the carbon, - a sealing system is provided in order to stop the circulation of the generated gases, between the feed means and the discharge means, - lastly, the kiln is equipped with a device, suitably positioned, which makes possible the injection of water vapour into the kiln. <IMAGE></p> |
