PURPOSE:To obtain a napped sheet having long and uniform artificial fur, and high commercial value, napping a sheet substance consisting of extremely thin fibers and an elastic polymer with an abrandant having coarse mesh first, abrading and napping it with an abrandant having fine mesh under light and minute conditions. CONSTITUTION:In napping continuously a sheet substance consisting of extremely thin synthetic fibers having <=0.5 denier and a high polymer elastic material such as polyurethane, first an abrandant having coarse mesh, such as sand paper with 100-500 meshes, is used, the sheet substance is napped with the abrandant advancing in a direction opposite to that of the sheet substance. Secondly, an abrandant having fine mesh, such as sand paper having 400-800 meshes, is used, the contact distance between the sheet substance and the abrandant is longer than the first napping treatment condition, pressure to press the sheet substance is lower than the first treatment, and the sheet substance is napped with the abrandant advancing in the same direction as that of the sheet substance. In the first napping conditions, 5-10kg/cm<2> pressure to press the sheet substance and <=10cm contact length between the abrandant and the sheet substance are selected.
