PURPOSE:To prevaent production of a difference in level and to improve appearance quality, by a method wherein a protector is fitted in and secured to an emboss part. CONSTITUTION:A rear door 1 consists of an outer panel 5 and an inner panel 7, and a hemming processing is applied on a terminal flange 9. A continuous emboss part 17 is fomed in a range of from an outer panel surface 11 of a rear fender panel 3 to an inner panel 15. A protector 19 is fitted in the emboss part 17, and the one end of the protector 19 is locked to the inner panel surface 15 by means of a screw 21. A gap (d) is provided around the terminal flange 9 of the rear door 1, and this causes prevention of the occurrence of interference of the protector 19 with the door during closing of the door 1. A cushioning body 23 can be mounted simultaneously with locking by means of the screw 21, and this enables shortening of an assembling time. Further, the protector 19 is prevented from protrusion from the panels 11 and 15, resulting in prevention of production of a difference in level.
