PURPOSE:To obtain a durable paint film having superior resistance to aging due to exposure to the open air by forming a transparent paint film by electrodeposition on a color paint film formed by electrodeposition on a metallic material. CONSTITUTION:A metallic material is coated by electrodeposition in water-soluble or -dispersible paint for electrodeposition contg. a dispersed pigment. The coated material is washed and coated by electrodeposition in water-soluble or -dispersible transparent paint for electrodeposition. The coated material is dried by heating after carrying out washing as required. The resulting paint film contg. the pigment is not aged by expousre to the opne air including the sun, ozone, wind and snow, and it is not affected by temp. and humidity, so tha pigment does not appear to prevent considerable reduction in the luster of the paint film.
