PURPOSE:To diffuse and dialyze efficiently a soln. contg. suspended material or a soln. depositing hardly soluble material during the dialysis treatment by passing a diffusion liquid and a dialysis liquid in counter current via upright tubular ion exchange members and making foam exist in the dialysis liquid. CONSTITUTION:The inside of a vertical cylindrical vessel 1 is segmented to parted chambers 3, 3', 3'' by tube plates 2, 2' and the chambers 3 and 3'' are communicated by tubular ion exchange membranes 4. A diffusion liquid (water or a dilute soln. of an acid or alkali) is supplied through a supply port 8 and a dialysis liquid (original liquid) is supplied through a supply port 9 so that the two liquids are brought into counter current contact with each other via the upright membranes 4. A gas is blown through a gas diffusion pipe 11 provided in the chamber 3 at the bottom end to make foam exist in the dialysis liquid. The diffusion liquid is discharged through a discharge port 7 and the dialysis liquid through a discharge port 10 after the counter current contact. The dialysis liquid contg. foam flows zigzag and upward and therefore the SS-component sticking to the membrane surface is effectively removed by the stirring effect thereof.
