A diagnostic device for checking for obstruction of the nasal airways comprises a sheet-like member having one substantially flat surface adapted to produce at least temporarily visible traces when expired upon through the nostrils. The surface is provided with a plurality of markings against which at least one dimension of the traces can be measured. The surface of the member may be treated with a substance capable of chemically reacting with at least one of the components of the expiratory air, to the effect of changing the color of the expiratory-air-impacted portions of the surface.
