PURPOSE:To obtain the titled fiber dyeable by high-temperature dyeing, and having remarkably improved ironing resistance, light-resistance at high temperature, etc., by using a polymer composed mostly of acrylonitrile and containing a strongly acidic group-containing vinyl monomer as a copolymer component, or prepared by using a specific polymerization catalyst. CONSTITUTION:The objective fiber can be manufactured either by using a polymer obtained by incorporating a strongly acidic group-containing vinyl monomer (e.g. sodium allylsulfonate, methyl acrylate, etc.) as a copolymer component to an acrylic fiber containing >=97wt% acrylonitrile, and/or by preparing the above acrylic fiber using a redox catalyst consisting of a combination of an oxidization catalyst (e.g. ammonium persulfate, sodium perchlorate, etc.) and a reduction catalyst (e.g. ammonium bisulfite).
