PURPOSE:To form colorful patterns having profoundness and deepness by painting a colored paint contg. organic solvents on a base material, and coating a colored water base paint on said coated film while the coated film is not dried. CONSTITUTION:A colored paint contg. a medium consisting essentially of an organic solvent having >=20wt% solubility in water is coated continuously or discontinuously on a base material. Then a colored water base paint in colors different from said colored paint is coated on the whole or the partial surface of the coated film while the coated film is not dried. Consequently, the colorful patterns without any boundaries and having profoundness, deepness and a natural and soft feeling can be obtained.
