PURPOSE:To control the rise of water temp. in an aeration vessel by connecting the sprinkling nozzle of a spray-type cooling device with the aeration vessel through a mechanism for controlling the supply of water, and providing a return water passage for returning cooled water to the aeration vessel from the cooling device. CONSTITUTION:An aeration vessel 2 for treating a dilute mixture of night soil whose foreign matter is removed in a pretreating equipment 1 and the sludge of a septic tank, an air supply control 3 equipped with a blower B for blowing air into the vessel 2, a spray-type cooling device 4 provided with a sprinkling nozzle 4a which is connected to the aeration vessel 2 through a water supply pipeline 5 equipped with a pump P, and a return water passage 6 equipped with a pump P for returning cooled water from the cooling device 4 to the aeration vessel 2 are provided to purify the treated water by the action of activated sludge and to control the rise of water temp. in the aeration vessel 2 by the evaporation of a part of the water content in the aeration vessel 2. In addition, a complete treating equipment 8, etc. is provided to treat the supernatant liquid from a settling vessel 7.
