CONTROLLER FOR VARIABLE CAPACITY TURBOCHARGER

PURPOSE:To protect an engine from damage in a variable capacity turbocharger where the supercharge pressure to be fed to an engine is measured through a supercharge pressure sensor to perform the feedback control of supercharge pressure, by reducing the supercharge pressure of intake air to be fed to the engine. CONSTITUTION:A control level for controlling the cross-section of supply path between an engine and a turbine such that the supercharge pressure of intake air to be fed to the engine will be at the predetermined setting level on the basis of the engine rotation and the engine load is calculated by means of an operating means 101. Then the control level is corrected on the basis of the difference between the surpercharger pressure measured through a supercharge pressure sensor 85 and the target level by means of correction means 103 and fed to control means 105 thus to control the area of exhaust lead path to produce proper supercharge pressure. The abnormality of said sensor 85 is identified through identifying means 107 to reduce the supercharge pressure by means of supercharge pressure reducing means 109 upon occurrence of abnormality in said sensor 85.
