PURPOSE:To enhance the efficiency of air-intake and gas exhaust, and as well to reduce the consumption of drive energy for a valve, by providing a single semicircular rotary valve for opening and closing both intake-air and exhaust passages. CONSTITUTION:A semicircular cross-sectioned shape rotary valve 2 for communicating between intake-air and exhaust passages, which rotates about a rotary shaft 1 is arranged in the top section of an engine cylinder in which a piston 3 slides. The rotary valve rotates clockwise to control intake-air and exhaust gas. The intake-air and exhaust gas passage are subjected to no obstructions in the valve opening condition, and therefore, the efficiency of air- intake and gas exhaust may become higher. Since the valve carries out rotary motion, the consumption of energy is small, and the valve operating mechanism is simple, therefore, the cost thereof is cheap. |
