PURPOSE:To enable an ink containing means to communicate with the atmosphere correspondingly to external forces by making the strength of a portion of an ink containing means smaller than those of other surrounding portions of it. CONSTITUTION:A spring 49 is stretched between riser portion 2A and a lever 47 that are provided on a carriage 2. A portion 47A which fixes a recording unit 21 being abutted against by the former, and a protrusion 47B which presses a vent portion 33 at the position that faces the vent portion when fixed are provided on the lever 47. Also, a vent hole 47C is provided in the side wall of the portion 47A. When the recording unit 21 is fixed on the carriage 2 by the lever 47, the protrusion 47B falls off the vent portion 33 into the inside of the container 23 by the energizing power etc. of the spring 49 and the inside of the container is communicated with the atmosphere through the space between the opening 33C and the protrusion 47B that occurred by the falling off mentioned above and the vent hole 47C. |
