PURPOSE:To attain processing at a high speed with the titled control system by using a software program just for preparation and start of a channel program and using the channel program to control all data transfers between a magnetic disk device and a magnetic tape device. CONSTITUTION:A main memory stores various types of software programs to be processed by an arithmetic device EPU, the channel programs to be processed by a magnetic disk controller DKC and a magnetic tape controller MTC, buffers, locks, etc. Then a software program for data save is first started. Then a channel program for data save is started. For instance, the save data of the magnetic disk device is transferred to a buffer BFA and a disk processing part DKP releases a clock LKA. Then the shunt data is transferred to a buffer BFA' and the clock LKB is released. Then an intermediate interruption to be fed from a tape processing part MTP is waited for.
