PURPOSE:To prevent generation of defective appearance such as the peripheral edge part of a counter electrode visible from the peripheral of a background material and appearance of a stained spot on a display surface by using the background material which consists of a porous resin sheet as a base material and is subjected preliminarily a solvent immersion treatment for the background of a display electrode. CONSTITUTION:An electrochromic display element is constituted of a display electrode substrate 1 having a transparent conductive film 1b consisting of ITO on a transparent glass plate 1a, an electrochromic material layer 2 consisting of WO3, a substrate 3, a counter electrode 4 consisting of Fe2(WO4)3 as a counter electrode material, a conductive assistant and a binder 4, etc. The material 5 is made by immersing a porous polytetrafluoroethylene sheet of 0.3mm. thickness dispersed and incorporated therein with titanium oxide into aceton for 10hr at room temp. An electrolyte 6 consists of the propylene carbonate in which 1.0mol/l LiCIO4 is dissolved and a small amt. of water is added. |
